Friends of the Arts was created to provide financial and moral and volunteer support to all students and teachers participating in visual and graphic arts, instrumental music, vocal music, dance, and theater. Friends seeks to promote involvement and awareness of Art activities throughout the school and community.
Friends of the Arts raises money with an annual Fruit and Poinsettia Sale, but more importantly, with memberships. Each year we seek to give back to the school in the neighborhood of $25,000, enhancing our children's experiences as they explore their world and themselves through the Arts.
Friends touches every grade level from prekindergarden through 12th grade, starting with Upper School band camp in the summer, all the way through Grandparents Day and Jazz Café in the spring, and each event between!
We use money raised from the annual sale and from memberships not only to support each individual teacher's wishes to enhance his or her program, but also to purchase the largeritems that are used by all three schools, such as
- CD/DVD duplicator
- Carpeted risers for the stage
- Lighting upgrades for theatre
- Cordless microphones and microphone stands
- A sound system for the dance studio
- A utility sink for the theatre
- Percussian intruments for the MS and US choirs
- Cabinets for instrument storage for the each school
- Two potters wheels and a kiln
- Artists fees for Assemblies
- Panels and easels for the Ambrose Art Gallery
- Specialty instruments for Middle and Upper School bands and for Lower School music
Join us as we support this vital part of the FRA community.
