Boys' Basketball

The boys’ basketball at FRA has a rich tradition of success over its 30 year history and has been a powerful venue to learn life-lessons:  Teamwork, Intensity, Hard-Work, Dedication, and how to handle success and failure.  FRA boys’ basketball provides the framework for the development of each student athlete physically, mentally, and spiritually as they become part of the program.

Basketball practice begins in late October and runs into the beginning of March.  There is other off-season training at various points throughout the year.

FRA enjoys the luxury of 4 on campus basketball gymnasiums, which accommodates the multiple levels in which FRA participates.

Girls’ Basketball

The girls’ basketball program at FRA has developed a winning tradition over the last decade. The Lady Panthers have won district and regional championships, as well as appeared in the Division I Class A and AA state tournaments and the Division II state tournament. Several girls have received all-district, all-region, all-state, and all-state tournament team. The 2009-10 season brought FRA’s first Miss Basketball winner in Derica Wyatt. FRA currently competes in Division II-A division with rivals, Donelson Christian, Ezell-Harding, and Davidson Academy, among others.

The Lady Panther Middle School basketball team competes in the Harpeth Valley Athletic Conference (HVAC). The middle school Lady Panthers has won either the gold or silver division of the HVAC tournament in each of the last four years. Nearly all of these girls have gone on to successfully compete on the varsity level.

Basketball practice the week of November first for the varsity team and mid-November for the middle school team running through seasons end. The off-season is key in the development and success f our program. We have two weeks of open-gym in the spring in preparation for 15 days of work in the summer, 10 days of which are competition in camp settings. FRA also has an individual camp for girls in rising grades 1-8.

At FRA, we field several school teams. At the varsity level we have a varsity team, as well as, a junior-varsity team. Several girls have competed for both teams as they rise through the ranks. Our Middle School program also has two teams; an A-team for the more experienced and more talented players, and a B-team for the girls who are still working on their skills and the concept of team that is emphasized in our program. Finally, we have an FRA team for 6th graders. Student-athletes that are in the 5th grade are strongly encouraged to participate in the West Nashville Sports League (WNSL) to continue to progress with their game.
