We believe
that each student has the capability to be a leader, a person who influences
others positively in his or her world.Through intentional, directed efforts, we seek to bring out those gifts
and talents within each student and to give our students multiple opportunities
to lead.
Components of Leadership FRA include:
- Curricular Emphasis:
- Each faculty member uses teachable moments at
least twice a month in every academic discipline to illustrate leadership. From
characters in a novel to scientists and historical figures, our students are
exposed to persons who have “made a difference” in the lives of others.
- Speaker Series:
- Once a month, Middle and Upper School
students have community leaders share the message of “paying it forward.” It is
our goal for men and women of faith to share their stories of commitment and
inspire our students as leaders.
- Parent book study:
- Using Dr. Tim Elmore’s text, Nurturing the Leader within your Child,
we have invited parents to partner with us in developing our students as
leaders.Dr. Elmore has been a guest on
our campus, and parents have been presented the opportunity to hear him and to
read his book. Parents and faculty will continue to hold book studies which give
us the needed understandings and techniques to work with our students, at home
and at school.
